We had another doctor's appointment tonight. Everything is going well. Little Sorb's heartbeat was 150 beats per minute. We are a little over 16 weeks. The baby is about 5 inches long! I read that in the next three weeks, the baby will double in weight and add inches to his/her length. We go back in four weeks and at that time we schedule an ultrasound appointment. So in about 5 weeks we'll know if it's a boy or girl. I'm feeling great- trying to exercise a bit more now that I'm home for the holiday break. I got a preggo work-out video for Christmas. Sounds corny... but I love it! Over the next couple of weeks I've been told I will start to feel the baby move. I'll keep you updated :)

Little Sorbs is 14 weeks old! He/she is about 3 1/2 inches long. My tummy is starting to jut out a bit. Had to buy some new jeans this weekend :) Still feeling great! 6 weeks until we find out if it's a boy or girl! It's coming fast!!

We just had our second doctor's appointment. We are a little over 12 weeks and we heard the heartbeat tonight!! It was 160 beats per minute :-) Dale, Brandt's dad, is convinced that means it's a girl! It was such an amazing thing- she placed the doppler device on my stomach and immediately we heard the heart. So cool! It's so nice to have confirmation :-) This week Little Sorbs will be almost 3 inches long and will weigh about 0.8 ounces. Crazy! As for me... I'm feeling great and gaining weight- Yikes!

10 weeks along... Only 30 to go! Yikes! The baby is now called a "fetus." That's moving up in the world. Little Sorbs is about 1 1/4 inches long right now and develops fingernails and toenails this week. It's amazing to learn about the intriciate parts of the body that are developed right away. What an incredible thing! We are doing very well. I have been feeling great this week. Praise the Lord! An interesting fact about myself... I crave hamburgers. Big, juicy, greasy hamburgers. I would eat a hamburger every day of the week if I could. I could care less where the burger comes from, but I prefer a healthy burger from good ol' McDonald's. I ate 5 hamburgers in one week. That's a record for me :) Our next doctor's appointment is November 30th. Until then...

We had our first doctor's appointment tonight. All is well. I am 9 weeks today! We tried to hear the heartbeat, but didn't have any luck. I did learn that my uterus is "retroverted," or tilted backwards, so she wasn't surprised we couldn't hear the heart. We go back in three weeks to try again! Thanks for your continued prayers. We'll keep you updated!

Week 8 is complete! I was reading that the baby is starting to get fingers and toes this week. How exciting!!

Week 7 is complete! Our little shrimp is starting to take form. As you can see from this real picture of our baby (wink wink), Little Sorbs has a giant forehead just like his/her daddy. Little Sorbs is definitely going to be a smart one with a noggin like that! Continue to pray for Steph as she has been feeling the morning/noon/afternoon/evening/middle-of-the-night sickness. On a similar note, pray that the tail on Little Sorbs will soon disappear (although it could be nice for a Baby Tumnus part in the next CS Lewis novel brought to the big screen)! Thanks for all your prayers!

Today I am 6 weeks pregnant. Does anyone have any cocktail sauce for my baby shrimp? I'm feeling great this week. Keep Little Sorbs in your prayers :)

Look at this sesame seed! Isn't it amazing that in just a few weeks Little Sorbs is going to look like a human?

For those of you who didn't know, you know now... Steph is pregnant!!! Here's the story of how it happened (how we found out you sickos)...

One Sunday afternoon Brandt was watching football with a friend. Unbeknownst to him, Steph had gotten home early from a youth event and purchased a couple pregnancy tests. She wanted to take the test, see the positive result, and make it a big surprise for Brandt. In true Brandt form, he foiled her plot. No sooner had Steph taken the test, Brandt walked in the house.

Frantically Steph tried to hide all of the evidence of her plot, but she forgot one thing. "Hi honey!" she said as Brandt came up the stairs. As they embraced, Brandt felt the pneumatic drill pounding in her chest. "What's going on?" he asked with a twinkle in his eye (Brandt always knows). Steph couldn't take it any longer, so she said "Come on, I haven't even looked at the result yet." They quickly ran into the bathroom and pondered what they saw. "Is it a line?" "It's kinda faint." "No, it's definitely a line." Finally bringing order to chaos Brandt said "I'm about 80% sure."

They wanted to take another one just to make sure, but they had to wait a while, so they went on a long, excited walk. Upon their return, another test ensued. This one was a different kind, but to their excitement, a faint pink line formed. "Now I'm about 95% sure," Brandt said with a smile. They were so excited about it, they decided to go to their parents that night to proclaim the good news. Shock and wonderment would be the theme for the rest of the evening.

Apparently the easiest time to test for pregnancy is in the morning, so that brisk Monday morning brought the third and final test. The box says to wait two minutes for a line to form, but it wouldn't even require that. A very solid line formed immediately, so Brandt proclaimed "Now I'm 100% sure!"

Now that you know the story, please keep Steph and Little Sorbs in your thoughts and prayers as it is still very early in the process. Don't hesitate to call and share your excitement with Steph & Brandt (hopefully I won't continue to write in the third person). Thanks everyone!!!
